What's the difference between scaling and stretching?

Scaling changes the size of the image while maintaining its original aspect ratio, so it doesn't look distorted. This happens when you have "Lock aspect ratio" checked.

Stretching changes the size to your exact dimensions, which may distort or "stretch" the image if the new aspect ratio is different from the original. This happens when you uncheck "Lock aspect ratio".

What's the difference between resizing and cropping?

Resizing (which includes scaling and stretching) changes the overall dimensions of an image. Cropping, on the other hand, removes the outer parts of an image to change its frame, focus on a subject, or alter its aspect ratio. Our "Crop & Resize" mode lets you do both at once.
